The Carrick Concert

The City of Adelaide (also known as The Carrick) is one of only two surviving Clipper Ships in the world. Built in 1864, it is older than the Cutty Sark. Recently brought out from Glasgow, the ship is now being restored in Port Adelaide. Over 250,000 Australians can trace their ancestry to the passengers on this ship. The word Carrick comes from the Irish ‘Carraig’ meaning ‘Rock.’ In Scots-Gallic it is ‘Creag.’ This concert on board the ship commemorates all who sailed to South Australia on it during the 19th Century.
