VUW Wellington Scottish Interest Group-“The archetype of our oneness with the earth” – John Muir, “Father of the National Parks”

Maybe a school reading book in Dunbar, his home town (near Edinburgh) spiked John Muir’s interest in all aspects of nature. Aged 11 (1849) the family emigrated to Wisconsin. John Dalgety will explain how Muir’s passion – exploring Yosemite and such places, meant advocating for their preservation with repercussions around the world at the Victoria University of Wellington Law School, Old Government Buildings, Lambton Quay (between Bunny and Whitmore Streets); entrance door from Bunny Street.
